I found the article "Tips for Sports Reporting" most helpful. This artice gives you examples, and gives you tips throughout and especially in the beginning so that you know how to write your article. It kind of lays out what you have to do. It gives you guidelines as well, so you know the do's and dont's. I'm really looking forward to writing the sports article.

the article that i found the most helpful was tips for sports reporting by Phil Jasner, because it gave me direct facts, and bullet points on hpw to write a sports article, so i can easily refer back to it. i also read the beginning of Exploring the sports section, it was like a little synopsis of what sports writing is.

i learned from the first one i reaqd that, i really didnt know was that you need to treat your subject with respect meaning you dont praise thme, you are just a reporter. i also found it important that you need to put aside your opinions of the player, which can sometimes show in your atricle. from the second one o read i learned that the sprts section als o prints cartoons, which i didnt know, and i thought only the news section did that. the articles kind of told different facts though because the ifrst one said to put opinions aside while he second one said in sports writing you are free to insert some editorial opinion.

Our of all four of the articles, there were two that mainly helped me to understand sports writing. The first was the packet labeled, "Exploring the Sports Section." It had a lot of good tips and basketball terms. Such as i learned, FG means Field goal, FT means free throws, PF is personal fouls and if you get 5 personal fouls in a high school or college game then you are taken out of the game, etc. I also learned baseball terms, C is the catcher, SS is shortstop Rf, is right field etc. Then the second packet was "Tips for Sports Reporting from Phil Jasner." This one taught me a lot. There were great tips on what to expect and what to do in sports writing. Such as, do your homework and be prepared to the game. Don't be afraid to ask hard questions, remember the who, what, where, when and why. There was a total of ten tips and they all had a brief explanation on why they are important. Also in that packet there was a section for "sports writing-- 30 dirty words" and it was also helpful hints. Like the team is an "it" not a "they," Double check the score at the end, WHAT EVER YOU DO, NEVER EVER TAKE A FREE GIFT! It can cost your job. Avoid beginning it with "There is" or "there are" because that's boring and no one will want to read your article. You should also put quotes in by the third or fourth paragraph. The human voice draws the readers in and changes it up. Lastly, you should put the score towards the beginning of the article because if the reader didn't know the final score, they won't read the whole thing and will move on.

I think the "Tips for Sports Reporting" was probably the most helpful packet all of the 4 because it shows us tips on how to do sports interviews and how to do a good job doing it. I think that sports writing would be entertaining, and this packet actually layed out all of the things I have to do, and what I dont inorder for my story to be good.

It is very easy to read and to understand, and I can refer back to it and follow every step when writing sports articles in the future. I think the article "Tips for Sports Reporting" was very helpful. This was helpful because it states that when you interview the athlete you have to remain as the reporter and not just the fan. It also says that you have to a have a complete understanding of the sport and the situation, so that it is easier to explain to your audience. It also says that you have to remember to get both sides of the story and that reminded me that sports writing isn't all fun and games and that there are still responsibilities the reporter must take on.

Out of all of the four articles, I found the "Tips for Sports Reporting" the most helpful. I thought this article was the most helpful because it gave you bullet points with specific information and it got right down to the point of sports reporting. It tells you to be specific, remember the five W's, do your homework, treat your subject with respect and more. It also gave examples of each thing they were explaining for sports writing and it really helps when you want to take it step-by-step.

I found all of the articles I received very helpful. I honestly did not know a thing about processing Sports Writings. I only knew that you still have to follow the rules of keeping it full of simple facts, and not taking sides. These articles clearly shows the do's and Don't's for sports writing. I expect to do well with this project, from the help of these articles.
